  • 3 Ways To Overcome Fear With Faith

    Tiffany Jo Russell

    January 21, 2026

Have you ever had these thoughts or felt like this?

Why is everything feeling like such a struggle? Why is the job that I put in so many hours of work, skill, and time exhausting me more than fulfilling me? Why am I holding on so tight to things to hold them together but all they do is seem to unravel in my hands? Why am I more sad and scared than excited for my growing kids’ making decisions for their future? Why am I overcome with anxiety when I think about change and the future?

I’ve been there, and maybe that’s where you are at this exact moment. Emotions that are real, raw, and even overwhelming. One thing that we can be certain about in this life is that there will always be change; seasons prove that to us over and over again. We can’t stop it, but we can learn how to trust God fully with it.

The biggest issue with fear and anxiety is it often holds us back from fully trusting God’s plans and walking out our purposes for that season. Whether it’s fear of the future, failure, or change, God calls us to trust Him completely.

How To Overcome Fear with Faith

    1. Pray for Peace – Approach God through prayer and offering thanks for His faithfulness. Ask Him to replace fear with His perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. By consistently approaching God with gratitude, it builds trust, which allows his overwhelming peace to guard our hearts and minds regardless of the circumstances.

Psalm 56:3 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”

    1. Speak Truth Over Your Life – Replace fear-driven thoughts with God’s promises. Focus your mind on the truth that God’s love casts out all fear and His promises provide. Find a few scriptures that the Holy Spirit is revealing to you in reference to anxiety, worry, fear, and your circumstances. Write them out on some note cards and place them around your spaces. Read them out loud and declare them with authority. Shift your focus from fears to the abundance of God’s provision. When you begin to feel your mind wandering back to those fears and worries, reset your mind to focus on Christ and His promises.

Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

    1. Take Faith-Based Action – This is a difficult one, but so freeing…step forward despite fear, trusting God’s leading. This one isn’t about having it all together, or perfection, but action. Trust Him enough to hand it to Him. Place it at the foot of the cross and walk away knowing He has it now. Take the step, take the jump, take the leap. God is already there waiting and ready for you to join Him. His faithfulness abounds and will continue strengthening you with each step.

Psalm 16:8 – “I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

The last thing I want to share is please hear this — Jesus doesn’t want you to continue struggling with fear, anxiety, and worry. It is robbing you of so many beautiful things. His plans are for you and your family, and they are so much bigger than you realize. He sees you and He loves you so much. Surrender control to His will – I know it can be hard, but it’s so worth it. It’s time to let go of fear and step boldly into the plans and purpose He has for you in this season and the next. You won’t regret it!

    With love always,

    Tiff
